TTARA welcomes Susie Buda to the TTARA team

Susie Buda, who has extensive experience in tax policy and school finance issues at the Texas Capitol, has joined the Texas Taxpayers and Research Association staff, TTARA announced today. Buda will focus on franchise tax, the state budget, tax administration and other state tax issues.

“We are thrilled to have Susie Buda joining the TTARA team, said TTARA President Dale Craymer. “Her invaluable experience on state and local tax and fiscal policy will help make TTARA an even greater resource to taxpayers and public policymakers.”

Buda comes to TTARA from the Texas Senate Finance Committee, where she served under Sen. Jane Nelson, committee chair, as Article III budget analyst since July 2014 and tax policy director since October 2017. Among numerous roles, Buda advised Nelson on tax policy issues and managed the senator’s tax policy legislation.

Previously, Buda served as general counsel for both State Sens. Royce West and Florence Shapiro. She also served as a policy analyst for both on Finance Committee issues. She managed Shapiro’s public and higher education legislation and served as committee counsel for the Texas Senate Committee on Education, which Shapiro chaired.

Buda is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison and the University of Wisconsin Law School.
