State sales tax would be cut under bipartisan proposal by two North Texas senators

Texas would cut its sales tax haul by 8%, starting Oct. 1, under a new proposal to cut the sales tax rate by a half cent by a bipartisan duo of North Texas state senators. The plan by Dallas Democrat Royce West and Edgewood Republican Bob Hall signals a desire to broaden tax-cut discussions in this year’s legislative session.
